Africa’s Women Day To Hold July 31

Come July 31, different women from all walks of life including first ladies would celebrate the African in them, tagged: Africa’s Women Day.
In a statement signed by Clara Okoro on behalf of the organization,the event is expected to raise awareness of the importance and existence of Africa Women’s Day.
“The spotlight is on the political legacy of African women since independence, and the aim is to honour each one of them for their visionary, bold and pioneering historical achievements and contribution to African and world history. This event is a build-up to the 60th-anniversary celebrations of Africa Women’s Day next year when AU turns 60.
“Africa Women’s Day has been in existence since 1962, little is known about this important day. This year a group of organisations led by African women decided to celebrate this important day. This event aims to raise awareness of the importance and existence of Africa Women’s Day. The spotlight is on the political legacy of African women since independence, and the aim is to honour each one of them for their visionary, bold and pioneering historical achievements and contribution to African and world history”
Prominent women like representative of the African Union,Madame Nkozisana Dlamini Zuma, First Female Chair of the African Union,Madame Eunice Iipinge, President of Pan African Women’s Organisation,Madame Catherine Samba-Panza, First Female President of the Central African Republic, Madame Mara das Nerves, First Female Prime Minister of Sao Tomé, and Principe, Madame Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, First Female Vice President of South Africa,Madame Joyce Banda, First Female President of Malawi and Madame Specioza Naigaga W. Kazibwe, First Vice President of Uganda.
