The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has opened a public consultation on several proposed guidelines for IT projects and regulatory standards in Nigeria.
The invitation for feedback reflects NITDA’s dedication to transparent and inclusive policy development.
The documents open for public input include the 2024 Guidelines for Licensing IT Projects Clearance Compliance Assurance Firms, Regulatory Guidelines for Electronic Invoicing in Nigeria, Guidelines for Software Development, and Guidelines for Software Testing.
These guidelines are designed to best serve the needs of the IT industry and promote the development of a thriving digital economy in Nigeria, said Hadiza Umar, Director of Communications and Media Relations at NITDA.
NITDA has also proposed revisions to its 2018 Guidelines for Clearance of IT Projects for Federal Public Institutions (FPIs), aiming to update standards in line with current technology needs.
One focus of the new guidelines is the clearance compliance assurance process for IT projects.
The 2024 Licensing IT Projects Clearance Compliance Assurance Firms guidelines aim to ensure that IT projects within FPIs follow established standards and best practices.
NITDA encourages public participation, urging stakeholders to review the documents available on its website at https://nitda.gov.ng/draft-regulatory-instruments/.
We invite all stakeholders to share their views to help shape Nigeria’s digital future, said Umar.
Feedback can be submitted via email to regulations@nitda.gov.ng until November 26, 2024.
