Apple has released the first beta of watchOS 10.4 for developers to test. This update follows closely on the heels of the watchOS 10.3 release.
To get a glimpse of the upcoming features, developers can install the watchOS 10.4 beta by navigating to the Apple Watch app, accessing “General” in Settings, and enabling the watchOS 10 Developer Beta. This requires an Apple ID linked to a developer account.
Upon activating the beta updates, developers can download watchOS 10.4 within the same Software Update section.
However, it’s essential to note that the installation process mandates an Apple Watch to have at least 50 percent battery life and be placed on an Apple Watch charger.
Among the anticipated features, watchOS 10.4 introduces a collection of new emoji characters, including a lime, an edible brown mushroom, a phoenix, a broken chain, and gestures like shaking the head vertically for a “yes” nod and horizontally for a “no” head shake.
This beta release marks Apple’s ongoing commitment to refining and expanding the capabilities of the Apple Watch.
