ATCON Clinches Award For Telecom Advocacy In Africa

Against the backdrop of actively promoting telecoms advocacy in Nigeria and beyond her shores, umbrella body for service providers, Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) was honoured recently.
Atcon was awarded at the 8thedition of Ghana Information and Telecom Awards 2018 (InstinctWave).
The Organizers of the Awards also commended the Association in the area of championing and advocating for an enabling environment for its members’ businesses and protecting its members’ interests in the telecom industry.
Receiving the award on behalf of Mr. Olusola Teniola, Atcon President, Mrs. Aderonke Adeyegbe, National Treasurer, Atcon appreciated the Organizers by saying the award would make Atcon to go the extra mile in the area of advocacy as Atcon’s advocacies have led to increase in the flow of Foreign Direct Investment to the sector and has restored the confidence of the Local Investors in the sector, saying, “It would generally spur us to do more constructive and meaningful advocacies for the betterment of our members and sector within Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
“We sincerely value this prestigious Award as it indicates that our efforts at removing all identified barriers to the continuous rapid growth of the telecom sector did not go to waste, as more resources would be dedicated to our advocacy work. Our engagements with all relevant agencies to provide an enabling environment shall be reinvigorated in order to get government at all levels to make laws and policies that would further grow and develop the sector, so that Nigerian and Africans in general can reap the expected benefits of reliable and seamless telecommunications services”,she said.
