Nigeria’s software industry has been tasked to help postulate solution to building effective tracking system that would span the indices of security, movement, quality, and quantity in the oil and gas sector, agriculture and the power sector.
This call was recently made by the Association for Information Communication Technology Local Content (ICTLOCA), during a media briefing.
Secretary to the association’s governing board, Akinbo A. A. Cornerstone, said “ICTLOCA believes that it is high time a solution is developed to address issues, rather than accusations that may further spur mistrust in the ecosystem.
He said part of the association’s intervention to proffer solutions to myriad of problems faced by indigenous ICT businesses is to organize a convergence platform to publicize and promote local content solutions and promote the Made-in-Nigeria ICT products and services at its first exhibition/conference.
The ICTLOCA Convergence Series (ICS) 2018 will take place on July 3-5, 2018 at the Digital Bridge Institute, Oshodi, Lagos with free booths for 50 exhibitors and a platform for pitch by hubs, start-ups and interested industry based groups.
“It promises to display local ICT skills and capabilities through this Exhibition across Nigeria with its partners in the coming months” said Cornerstone.
Recall that in 2017, ICTLOCA elected its leadership and began extensive work on the advocacy, promotion, and protection of local providers of ICT goods and services, local ICT businesses and practitioners in across sector. It also developed its objective, framework from the NOGIC, and NITDA Act to promote local ICT practitioners across all sectors of the Nigerian economy.
The activities of the association was also strengthened by the proclamation of the Federal Government’s Executive Orders three and five enacted to promote and protect local ICT businesses by mandating all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to patronise only Nigerian ICT providers for all ICT goods and services.
