The Federal Government of Nigeria has intensified efforts to improve agricultural productivity through the adoption of emerging technologies.
This initiative was formalized with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the National Agriculture Development Fund (NADF). The MoU aims to integrate digital technology into agriculture to enhance efficiency and increase output.
NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa, emphasized the importance of this collaboration.
Today, agriculture cannot thrive without digital technology. This MoU represents a significant step in the government’s efforts to improve productivity and address food security,” he said.
Inuwa also highlighted the government’s active involvement, noting that the Minister of Agriculture is personally invested in the success of these technologies.
NADF Executive Secretary, Mohammed Abu Ibrahim, pointed out that this partnership has the potential to address major challenges facing the agricultural sector, such as climate change, insecurity, and limited funding.
The synergy between technology and agriculture is vital to overcoming these obstacles. With innovations like AI and data-driven decision-making, we’re optimistic that this collaboration will help us maximize resources and achieve more, Ibrahim stated, expressing hope for future collaborations to further strengthen the sector.
