Netflix said password sharing would mean extra payment and has started disconnecting users devices under different households.
The popular streaming platform said pricing would be based on the devices that share one account.
The streaming service in an email to subscribers,said,
“Netflix is meant to be shared in one household; people who live in the same location. You can share Netflix with someone who lives in a different location for $7.99/month.”
The company uses IP addresses, device IDs, and account activity from devices signed into the Netflix account to determine which devices are in the same household.
So far this policy has been implemented in four countries, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, and Canada.
