The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Director General, Kashifu Inuwa, has emphasized that while technology plays a critical role in improving lives, it is the people who ultimately drive meaningful change.

He said this at the 68th Meeting of the National Council on Education (NCE), highlighting the importance of equipping Nigeria’s workforce with the necessary digital skills to ensure the country’s success in the global digital economy.

Technology makes our lives better, but people also make technology better,” Inuwa said, stressing the need to upskill citizens to become not just consumers but creators of technology.

He pointed out that while digital tools can enhance efficiency and productivity, it is human innovation and talent that ultimately propel society forward.

Inuwa emphasized that NITDA’s focus on digital literacy is aimed at empowering Nigerians to develop and utilize digital technologies effectively.
To achieve this vision, NITDA has partnered with the Federal Ministry of Education to integrate digital literacy into the national curriculum, as part of its Digital Literacy Framework (DLF).

Inuwa noted that this collaboration is essential for ensuring that students are equipped with the skills required to navigate and contribute to the digital economy.

There is no way we can achieve our mandate without this partnership, he said, underlining the role of education in fostering a tech-savvy generation.
