The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has announced its collaboration with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to bolster Nigeria’s cyberspace and enhance digital trust through the implementation of National Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).
“NITDA is committed to collaborating with NIMC to harness the potential of technology innovation, particularly through PKI, for driving Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda,”
The Director General, NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, stated, during a visit to NIMC’s Director General, Bisoye Coker-Odusote.
Coker-Odusote expressed NIMC’s enthusiasm for collaboration, noting that no institution can implement policies and programs in isolation. She highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s circular on data integration and harmonization of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), emphasizing the importance of PKI for the country’s growth and development.
“Our collaboration with NITDA is crucial for advancing the digital economy sector. We need each other to achieve the set targets,” said Coker-Odusote.
The meeting concluded with the inauguration of a 12-man committee tasked with kick-starting and harmonizing the initiatives. The committee is expected to deliver a comprehensive implementation report in the coming weeks, marking a significant step forward in enhancing Nigeria’s digital infrastructure and identity management systems.
