The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has collaborated with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on the Digital Literacy for All initiative.
This was made known by the NITDA Director General, Kashifu Inuwa at the Nigeria Govtech Conference and Awards in Abuja.
He emphasized that the initiative aims to train 30 million Nigerians in digital skills by 2030.
We are committed to ensuring that digital literacy reaches every corner of Nigeria, and our collaboration with NYSC is critical in achieving this goal,” Inuwa said.
The initiative, which has already been launched in 12 states, will be expanded nationwide to equip both formal and informal sectors, including market women and artisans, with essential digital skills.
Our target is to achieve 70% digital literacy by 2027, and this partnership will help us empower citizens, particularly those in underserved areas, with the knowledge needed to improve their livelihoods and contribute to the economy,” Inuwa added.
This collaboration is part of NITDA’s broader Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan 2.0 (SRAP 2024-2027), which aims to build a digitally literate population through various initiatives. The partnership with NYSC leverages the youth corps network to spread digital skills across the country.
Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) Director General, Dasuki Arabi, stressed the importance of digital transformation in public service, stating that it has the potential to enhance service delivery, promote citizen engagement, and foster transparency.
With the right technology, we can fulfil the Renewed Hope Agenda and create a more inclusive society,” Arabi concluded.
